Mercy is a non-conformist African teenage girl who successfully breaks the jinx of a patriarchal society that frowns on teenage girls expressing their sexuality. She woos debonair Ken, a boy she has a crush on. She is an awesome girl who exemplifies everything that is feminine. She lavishes Ken the most intelligent student in the class with much fondness which he ignores. Ken focuses on his studies. In the grand scheme of things, he sees Mercy's affectionate advances as a distraction from his set goal; to escape from despair and to fulfil a pledge he made to his class teacher Miss Agnes whom he venerates. Mercy is relentless, she taps into the world of romance for answers in spite of rejections by Ken.
