In September of 1943, Alessandro Rasile was taken prisoner by Germany. He remained a prisoner until the end of the war. After the war, Alessandro moved to New York City. He tried to put the war behind him. But, for years he struggled with nightmares and depression. Then, he began to write down his wartime experiences. Writing helped him finally find peace. For decades, Alessandro wanted to turn his journal into a book. But, he was afraid of letting others know about what happened during the war. He is no longer afraid. This is his story.
